Hi everyone.

Ive got this card today https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-282-MS&groupid=701&catid=1914&subcat=2379

Boots up into windows, but if I restart the PC using windows, I get nothing on the screen for 30-40 seconds then the desktop appears. This is only when the latest nvidia drivers are installed though. Everything is fine without them. (might try some older drivers?)

Also if i restart the PC using the button on the case I dont get this issue. Post shows up etc etc. Same from a cold boot also.

Been messing with this all day with Win 7. Just installed Win 10 and I get the same thing.

I have the Z87 HD3 Gigabyte MB with the latest bios installed. Also tried using the other PCI-E port and I get the same thing. Cleared the bios and checked all cables aswell.

Ive disabled the intel graphics in the BIOS aswell.

Surely I shouldnt have to wait 30-40 seconds for an image to appear.

Anything else I can try? Or does it sound like a faulty card?

Cheers.

Id suggest trying either the card in a different pc or a different card in your pc or both.

Gonna be the only way to find out but sounds more like driver problem if im honest

Chaps, do you think it could be the motherboard? Did some gaming for a couple of hours (Alan Wake) And everything is fine. Just that restart issue still.

I have a cold boot problem myself from a Gigabyte Z77 board.

I just switch off PSU and unplug power cable for a few min and all works well.
I will never buy another Gigabyte board again.

What CPU do you have?

Have you tried on board graphics ?

You might have a dodgy MB I have one. Its a pain in the ass but I can live with it for the time being.

It wont be the card its the MB, go through the Bios with a fine comb and check any setting related to graphics/PCIe etc.

Or send it back and try again if its the same then its a dodgy MB! ;)

4670K

Was fine before with a 7870. But ive heard that certain Gigabyte boards tend to be a pain in the ass with some GPUs. Its absoloutley fine when playing games though.

I had a GTX 480 and it happened now and again although not as much, but now I have a 780ti and two monitors it happens more often than not.

Send it back try again if not go with a AMD card and all might be fine. ;)

Yeah ive ordered a new motherboard. I dont think its the card either mate.

Did you try the card in someone elses machine?? If not your pretty much clutching at straws

You may have changed the mboard but it could be a combination of things causing it so are you gonna just keep replacing parts untill you get lucky?

No mate. I was planning to upgrade the board anyway. My old 7870 was fine however.
