Hi all,

So my laptop doesn't start up anymore, I've taken the whole thing apart and tried to get it to boot with just the bare bones, but I still get the same symptom.

Press power putton
cpu fan spins
hard drive clicks a bit
no display at all
cpu fan stops
hard drive stops clicking
stays powered, but nothing displayed or happening any more.

It's a Toshiba A200-28P.

I've replaced the power supply block in case that was faulty, also reset the BIOS by removing the battery for a few days.

So that leaves me with either a faulty...
CPU
Motherboard
Graphics Card

(It has a separate graphics card btw).

So my question is if the graphics card was faulty wouldn't it still boot, although with nothing to see? Or could a faulty graphics card halt the whole booting process?

Any advice?

Chris

If you have a spare computer and spare usb stick download and make a linux puppy drive, see if you can boot form the usb, if so then it is most likely the HDD, however sounds more like the motherboard is at fault.
