Today I was reseating my Video card because it didn't seem to be in properly when I went to turn the system back on it wouldn't post. After testing the Video card and PSU on another system I ruled those out as the problem. After a lot of troubleshooting I think i've figured out it's the RAM, 1 stick will work in any of the 4 slots on my motherboard whilst the other stick will only work in the slots closest to the CPU and only sometimes, other times I get no post.

Does this sound like a faulty memory stick or a motherboard issue?

I had a simlar issue with a sony vaio laptop. Im assuming the sticks of ram are identical. Can you test them in another pc?

Sadly no since I only have 1 system that uses DDR2 RAM. I'm pretty sure it's a faulty stick though since one of the sticks will run in any of the slots and the other is flakey in 2 of the slots and prevents boot completely in the other 2 slots, this is RAM that has been running since October of last year, so not a new set of RAM or anything.
