I went to London a week and a half ago on Friday 26th, and parked up in a pay and display on the road. I put in my money but the machine wouldnt accept any of my 10p's, so it ended up being 15mins shorter than I needed. I risked it and hoped it would be ok.

Of course it wasnt and the warden got me 10 mins after my money ran out and 5 mins before I got back, so I have a £50 fine, which increase to £100 if I dont pay before this Friday. I took a video on my phone of me trying to put 10p's on the meter and them going straight through, and have emailed the council telling them the story and that I have this video. They havent replied yet and they will only reply by a letter hence why it may be taking so long.

Just wondering what you reckon they'll say? Will it simply be tough crap, pay up? Or will they ask for the video. Thing is I dont wanna have to wait and end up paying £100 so I probabaly end up paying £50 before Friday :(

Could be rubbish but I was reading a story in the paper the other day about an old lady person (think she was semi famous) parked up and found the ticket machine not working. There was a warden doing the rounds and he pointed her in the direction of another one, when she came back to the car she'd been ticketed!

She complained and the council responded that if she found the machine to be faulty she should have driven else where and found one that was working!

Its a crazy world...

I had same issue with fife council, I asked to speak to the name on the ticket the head of finance and management they kept stalling, and eventualy they quashed the fee.

Demand an appointment with the head man on the ticket :D

if a london meter is out of order/not working the bay is suspended which means you cant park there, you will have to pay the fine 100%

It was Ester Rantzen and she got let off it in the end after going on the London news to complain about it. Pity normal folk probably wouldnt be able to do the same thing.
