Hi all, i'm having problems with my network :(

i have cabled up my house with cat6 cables but my main pc and file server won't run at full speed unless i unplug the cable and re insert and have to do this every re-boot, it's not too bad for normal things like watching vids ect but coping large files takes ages

my main pc (spec below) is using nvidias onboard nic same with my file server (Fujitsu Siemens E600 with onboard 1000base) both switch's are also 1000base and as said all cables are cat6 but only getting 9.6Mb/s not 100MB/s :(

so question is, cable or nic? if nic could you recommend a good one

no i haven't as yet :o, all the cables are pre-made so hoped they would be all ok :) i'll get a tester ordered and go from there, thanks for the quick reply m8 :D will update when i know more

When you say it won't run at full speed, do you mean the data throughput between PC and server, or the link speed between PC, server and switch(es)?

If you've got 1Gbps full duplex links throughout then it suggests the problem lies in the PC or server (or maybe a switch) rather than the cabling.
