Faulty PS3??

Hi!

Sorry guys, pretty trivial thread but I would like some advice/reassurance please!

Just got a PS3 slim yesterday and have noticed a couple of things.

1. When flipping between activities (game to menu > menu to blu-ray etc) for a brief moment a random set of colours will appear, whether it's a pink strip across the lower half of the screen, or 3/4 blue, it changes each time. Is this a fault or a standard thing?

2. When watching Rush Hour 3 blu-ray, on three occasions there appeared to be lines across the screen that progressed down the screen for a second or two, rewinding the blu-ray and playing it through the same points in the film and the lines didn't appear again.

Like I say, pretty trivial stuff but I'm not sure what to expect and it also seemingly takes forever to update the thing.

Anyways, any feedback would be appreciated.

Much love x

1. It's standard for the TV to "flip out" when the PS3 is changing tasks - it changes resolution quite a lot going from XMB > game > XMB > Blu-ray HD > Blu-ray SD extras, etc.

As its brand new you could just to return to the shop and try another if its a pretty simple task to do. Alternately try another TV with HDMI or another PS3 with the TV if someone you know has one pretty close. Swap HDMI leads and try it with just the AV cables is another option just to find exactly where the problem lies.
