basically on 1st jan this year i bought a ps4 from my local argos. i dont have the paper receipt but do have the emailed receipt.

my ps4 now swtches itself of within 2 seconds of being switched on. i dont have the box nor the game the console came with however if i return it to argos will they exchange it for a working model or do i have to go thru sony???

tia

My first port of call would be Argos, not sure if it matters but you should always keeps the box for things like this if things go wrong.

yeah i normally do but the younger children used it as a dolls house and destroyed it. hoping argos will replace it but i wasnt sure how the years warranty stood if it was faulty. saying that argos are not normally too bad that way was just looking for some advice

I wouldnt be surprised without the box/game they send it for service than give you a replacement there and then. TBH its upto them how they deal with it, but definitely sounds like something to get sorted ASAP.

Remember your contract is with Argos and not Sony so you have more leverage dealing with them rather than being pawned off to Sony directly.

for the sake of £15 ive just agreed to buy blops3 from a friend so that saves that worry but no luck with the box.

out of interest would would i say to argos, basically i bought it from them few months back and now its faulty could i get a replacement please??

the last time i had anything like this was the xbox 360 rrod and they replaced it 9 months later no questions asked.

also what do u mean i have a contract with argos rather than sony??? i take it that means within the 1st year they are responsible????

Your sales contract is with Argos and effectively you are using the Sales of Good Act to return a faulty item within 6 months of purchase. That definitely simplifies matters...

Its upto Argos to decide to either provide you with a repair, replacement or refund and its up to them what they choose, though once you feel theyve already had a reasonable attempt (say they repair it but it doesnt work or develops another fault) you can 'politely demand' whatever recourse suits you best (usually a refund)

Warranty is irrelevant as thats with the manufacturer and its not what you are trying to exercise. What you are exercising is your statutory rights as per SoGA.

Dont particularly worry about the game/box, tbh if I was in your situation Id ask them to let you demonstrate the problem and take them down the path that a repair for such an issue isnt in either in your interests and that you would accept a replacement. You can only do but ask, just be nice about it...

thnx for quick replys i shall take a trip down asap. believe it or not this is the 3rd time it will have been replaced by them. 1st one was DOA and 2nd one the controller wouldnt charge after the initial charge ran out

thnx for all the replys everyone, so basically just take console and game to the argos and explain to them whats happened/show the the console not working and more or less demand a replacement console and if they play hardball or be awkward ask for a full refund as i believe they may be faulty batch of consoles and buy elsewhere

Print out your receipt (saves hassle). Politely tell them the problem and how often it happens and then state what your expectations are.

If youve gone through multiple brand new consoles at the same retailer then I cant see how a refund isnt a logical conclusion - its unfortunate. Depends if you are happy with Argos and happy to take a replacement. If youve dealt with them before you have probably a good idea what resolution they are likely to go for...

Man Im in a good mood, Im never this helpful...
