I brought a Gigabyte ODIN GT 550W PSU from Overclockers in December and it's been perfect until 2 days ago. When for some reason it started to behave weirdly.

It will now adjust the fan speed constantly, so it'll be quiet for a few seconds on a slower speed which is what it normally runs at. Then it will go to full speed for a few seconds which is actually quiet loud. It will continue doing this constantly.

It does this from star up so it isn't because the pc is running hot, and it's not from the machine needing more power because i've not really used it to do anything other than browse the internet for the past couple of days. It still runs the pc fine for this and doesn't seem to struggle doing anything. It always been fine before even when gaming.

I've not installed any of the software that came with the psu, as i didn't think it was required as it ran perfectly and quiet straight out of the box.

Any idea to what it could be?

I've not tried disconnecting it yet, as i've not had the time and partly because i couldn't be bothered.

But if no one can give me an idea i was planning on doing this tomorrow.

Just to add it's definitely not running hot, the air being blown out the back is constantly cool.
