i have an xfx 750w psu and cpuid hardware monitor, after some random ammount of time it says my 12v rails minimum value is 5v and ive seen the current one hit 11v

time for a new psu? or just a software error?

also ill need a new psu for my next rig, im thinking 1000w+ so i have room to upgrade to sli/crossfire depending which way i go

what psu would u recomend? (as i may need it to replace the current one)

Are you actually having any problems with the power supply? I wouldn't trust the software. If the hardware shows signs of stress then change it. otherwise it is probably fine.

750W is enough for 2 cards
And XFX are a decent brand
I will never trust motherboard with voltage readings
Only a multimeter
At 11V your PC will not work

none that i can tell chris, just figured id ask just to be sure :)

tres is it enough for 2 say 7970's + 3 hdd's + 4-5ghz overclock on an ivybridge?

HD7970 has 220W max power draw
ivy bridge oc to 4.5-5Ghz 160-200W power draw
motherboard 50W
+15W/HDD
440+200+50+45=735W not that much room left
But those numbers are theoretical maximum usage an absolute all of the components
In games video around 300W CPU around 120W motherboard 50W and 7W per HDD
If you game a lot get a gold PSU at 1KW it will save you on power bill optimum usage 50-70%
If you pay the power bill it makes a difference on the long term
