Okay so I think my RAM needs do go back...
What's happened:
I hade 64GB RAM - 2 packs of 32GB, each stick 8GB.
I sent a 32GB pack back (4x8GB) to Patriot, which OCUK today have told me Patriot are replacing as they have tested it and found issues.
I then started to use the other 32GB pack on its own in the proper quad channel setup, I have an OC on the CPU and have manually entered RAM settings.
With this setup I do not get BSODs or restarts, its all pretty stable, however if I run IntelBurnTest I can complete all passes in all settings except maximum, where I can only get past two passes until I get told it is unstable.
Anyway, the system is working and that's great but I want to make sure there are no hardware issues.
Now with the OC MemTest shows up errors.
Without the OC MemTest shows up errors, and more errors than when its OC or just XMP.
I am running MemTest86 with one stick installed and waiting for 2 passes and then moving onto the next stick.
MemTest is being run with no OC and only stock defaults.
Here are the results:
Stick 1 - Errors: 6
Stick 2 - Errors: 266
Stick 3 - Errors: 52
Stick 4 - Errors: 56
ALL errors happen during MemTest's 6th and 8th tests regardless of how many passes, most of the errors happen in the 6th test..
All sticks were tested in the same DIMM Slot.
I have checked Mobo DIMM's with other RAM and it passes with flying colours so Mobo is fine.
As you can see there is no pattern in the amount of errors per stick.
The addresses which the errors occur are also all different depending on which stick is installed.
System Specs:
CPU: i7-3930K 3.2GHz
CPU COOLING: Corsair H100i - Stock fans replaced with 2x XAF-F1251
CASE COOLING: 6x Xigmatek XAF-F1251
MOBO: Gigabyte X79-UD5
RAM: 64GB (2x 32GB Packs/8x8GB) Patriot Extreme Masters 1600MHz
GPU: GeForce GTX 670 POV
SSD1: SATA3 256GB Samsung 830
SSD2: SATA3 240GB OCZ Agility 3
SSD3: SATA3 128GB Samsung 830
HDD1: eSATA 1TB Lacie External
PSU: Antex 850W Gold Continuous Power
Case: Antec P280
So I guess my questions are:
1: What are your thoughts?
2: It is this common than all 4 Ram sticks would fail?
