Faulty Ram or GPU?

Have tried to RMA the card with overclockers they returned my HIS 6950 as working perfectly, so this

Could be due to faulty ram?

Have you tried different gfx drivers - either the latest release or older versions?

If you want to try and rule out memory as an issue run memtest for 6hrs.

It's done it from like 11.6 to 11.9 drivers running on 11.9 atmo, The artefacts don't happen all the time but when they do they're sooooo annoying. Memtest hmmm.

Have you logged the temps on the card when you start to get artifacts?

Can you get your hands on another gfx card to test in your system?

I only suggest memtest so you can rule out memory - but your problem isn't presenting itself as a memory problem.

EDIT: Is this a totally new build or was the gfx card added recently - and if it was did the problems appear straight away (and did the previous card work OK)?

It has done it in a lot of games, COD, WOW, BF3 and my system was bought 2 years ago and the card in april didn't have any problems with it at the start. Then one day it started doing it on counter strike. I've taked the side of my case off and at full load stays at 62 degrees and it hasn't done it since. Still would like to sort it for sure tho.

Are you saying that since you've taken the side off the case that the problem has disappeared completely?

If that is the case what case have you got and what's the airflow like (amount of fans and airflow etc)?

You may also want to put the side back on and try to induce the fault and get a temperature reading if possible.

Furmark would be a quick stability/heat test for the card...

The problem does disappear only got a fan at the back of my coolermaster elite case and one of the heatsink of the CPU.

You need to radically the increase airflow through your case - I would install a front intake fan - 1 x 120mm.

If your using a stock cooler on the CPU you could also reduce your case temps by getting a tower cooler (~£20 - £25) which will vent the heat generated by the CPU directly out the back of the case.
