Bought a xbox one from Tes@@ 3/1/14. Only just setup today and the disc drive is making a churning noise and isn't reading any discs I put in.

Am just wondering if I could get a refund if I took it back to the store?

:)

Took you're time to set it up :P

If it's faulty just take it back to the store and explain that it is faulty, they'll probably either offer a replacement or a refund.

Worst case scenario is they say no and you have to go to the manufacturer, so no harm in just going to the store and see what happens.

Have you got the receipt? If not, a bank/CC statement to prove you bought it there? Shouldn't be an issue if you do.

Why not just get a replacement anyway?

You aren't entitled to a refund, but tesco have pretty good returns policies.

This. I bought a digicam from Tesco as a wedding present. It transpired that someone else bought the camera from their wishlist as well. I agreed with the other party that I would take mine back and Tesco refunded me no probs. If it was something that I was buying for myself though and there was as fault, then I would seek a replacement.

Argos are similar. If the item is faulty, they'll give you like-for-like. If they no longer stock that item, then they give you an Argos voucher to the item's worth. Both scenarios have happened to me.

I had a fight had over tooth for a replacement Nexus 7 vs being sent away for repair under 1 month after they called tech support the store called in store. They told me to RMA with Acer. I demanded to see the duty manager and in the end they replaced. Hope their more accomadating with a refund which I doubt.

Apparently, if you return or swap a faulty XB1 you get put on some special Microsoft database and its in their small print somewhere, that because of this, they can use Kinect to watch and monitor you.... and do what they want with the data.

Id be careful.

i susspect he wants refund rather than replacement as there's mroe deals out now so he could probbaly save some money

You are not firstly entitled to a refund due to it been over 48 hours since you purchased it. I'm not 100% sure if your entitled to a refund if its been 7 days or less.

This is what usual happens when you buy electronics.

They will offer for it to be sent away for repair. If you decline or kick up a fuss they will then offer an exchange. Kick up more of a fuss then they will offer you a refund.

I'd try get an exchange if you are wanting the console. Just tell them the truth and I'm sure they will exchange without an issue.

So you bought a £400+ console and it took you 3 weeks to open and inspect it. You admit you're strapped at the minute and could do with the money, and luckily for you it just happens to be broken out the box!

If you do succeed in returning it with Tesco, I would buy a scratch card on the way out!
