Hi folks, I am thinking about get a new HTPC for the house and moving my current one to the work. The current system is as follows.
CM Stacker
QX6700
EVGA 680 MOBO
2 x 8800 GTX
2GB OCZ PC6400
150GB WD Raptor
I want to change to a HTPC mainly because my current system is too big / noisey / warm. The heat probably being the biggest problem. I have £1500 max to spend.
So far my only real thoughts are to start of with the following:
Antec Fusion “Remote” Max Premium HTPC Case
i7 920
LG BR / HD DVD Drive
SSD HDD (I can pinch one or 2 1TB drives out of my current system for storage)
Graphics cards my preference lies with nVidia but I am open to suggestions. I would love a 295 but I cant seem to get it to fall under budget.
As for RAM, im open to whatever. Is there much benefit in getting anything over 1333mhz if I have no intention of OC'ing? I am contemplating switching from XP to Vista HP 64.
I have sound card / mouse / keyboard / monitor already.
Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
