Bigger box!
Hi all,

Got a favour to ask from anyone who's quite handy with photoshop or similar.
Basically I'm building an arcade cabinet using mame and I've found a great little frontend/ that is very customisable.....

Chucking it all together how I want isn't a problem but making it look the way I want is because I don't have photoshop and if I did I wouldn't know what to do with it!!!

I've got a few images from the net, and I know what I want to do with them but don't know how, or even if what I want is possible.....

I'll stick em below, with an explanation of what I'm after and why, and if anyone can help out or advise I'd be really grateful :)

Don't even know if this can be done!! I'm looking to have this image as the background, but so that things are clearly visible ontop of it I'd like this feint and maybe without colour or the writing?!?!

I need this to be just the logo, 50% translucent on a transparent background 1024 x 768. This is beacause I intend to have it scrolling across the background. The way the layout animates is to scroll a full size image across the background.

Looking to have this one cut out so that there are no edges. The reason for this is because I plan to have him in the bottom left corner of the screen but with the Capcom logo scrolling behind him.

So there we are :)

I'm afraid I have nothing to offer in return :( I'll of course credit you if I release the layout but all that means that the half a dozen other geeks who are into making their own custom layouts will think you're a legend :p

Well the Ken pic is easy to do, but the transparency will need a matt colour unless you use PNG32. Otherwise you'll need to use gif with a matt background, so knowing the likely colours shown behind him would be best.

Again its the same case with the Capcom logo, it all depends what image format you want and what colour the background behind is likely to be.

Regarding the first image i have no idea what you mean. What do you mean clearly visible on top, if you have it as a background image, then everything is surely going to be sat on top of it. The only other option is to make the image transparent, but you'll need a decent amount to see anything else clearly if that's the case.

I can give you Ken in PNG32 with a full transparent background but the free image uploads don't allow PNGs or at this size, so i can email it to you if you like.

EDIT: turns out they do...

That's Ken for now, be more specific and i'll help with the others where i can...

Mate, that's absolutely blinding! Thanks very much :)

I've run into another problem now that's frontend specific though and I can't fix it. I've left a query on the frontends specific forum and I hope someone will get back to me, but if I can't get round it I might have to go for a much simpler idea... It's a shame though...

Thanks loads for your help mate, I'm sure the issue I'm having can be rectified so I reckon I'll be back to ask more cheeky favours over the next few days :)

No problem, i don't mind doing odd bits that take a few minutes. There's lots of people here capable of doing it in any case, just a matter of having the tools and know how... :)

Just post whatever you need, and either myself or another member will post the changes for you...
