Favour: WAN AND LAN

Hello network experts. I want to compile all the components required for a typical local area network and wide are network to later on put in a table.

Currently for Wan I have:

Network Adapter
Modem
Repeater
Bridge
Hub
Switch
Access Point
Router
Residential Gateway
Gateway

Lan:

Router
Hub
Ethernet cable
Network Card
Switch

Sorry for sounding dumb, but am I on the right track and is there anymore?

Yes its homework, but it isn't one of the questions, the actual question is to explain the differences. You see I managed to find all components required for a WAN but I'm struggling with the LAN part even though it should be pretty simple. I probably know all of them but I just never trust myself.
 
I don't understand what you're trying to do in your OP.. What level of homework is this (e.g. GCSE). The items in your post have no relevance on the actual question

Exactly it has no relevance, I just was hoping someone could confirm that I have successfully noted down all components required for a LAN AND WAN network.
 
The differences between a WAN and a LAN are more than just what they are made up of. In fact differentiating them by hardware is a terrible way of doing it.
 
for a lan you need

HUB and ethernet cables or a wireless hub / router / access point..

for a wan you need

two routers and a method of connecting them that is classed as "wide"

no devices (pc, laptop, server etc) are required in my mind to make a LAN or WAN as long as the connectivity is there you have a lan / wan. DHCP makes things easier but is optional.

write what I ahve put if they say its not enough or wrong give them my email address and ill argue the point

You can achieve a LAN with a single cable.
You can achieve a WAN with a single cable.

You do not need a router for a WAN for example.

You cannot answer this question without very specific context or assuming TYPICAL usage.

Your closing line did give me a good laugh though, so +1 for that :p

Nope.

You can have a point-to-point link between 2 remote buildings with no need for routing and it could still be classified as a WAN. WAN is more about geographic remoteness than technical implementation really.

As said, depends on context.
