Favourite Guitar Solo's?

Racer X - Snakebite
Racer X - Technical Difficulties
Racer X - Viking Kong
Racer X - God of the Sun
GNR - Sweet Child Of Mine
GNR - Get in the Ring
Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb
Metallica - Unforgiven
Metallica - Nothing Else Matters

Ones I think are good (the best is subjective) - not definitive, but each cool for its own reasons.

A Racer X fan!

Steve Vai - Tender Surrender
Warner Hodges - Shop it Around (Jason & the Scorchers)
Randy Rhodes - Mr Crowley (both solo's are perfect, and why i picked up the guitar)
Gary Moore - Still got the Blues
Mark Knopfler - Brothers In Arms
Zakk Wylde - farewell ballad
I'd also like to mention a classic 'Meeting of the Spirits' with John McLaughlin, Paco De Lucia, Larry Coryell ... some of the most gifted acoustic players ever to have graced the planet

**anything Yngwie plays**

Tough call, I'll limit myself to one browse through my iTunes.

Hotel California - The Eagles
Get the Funk Out - Extreme
Sweet Child O' Mine - Guns N' Roses
Don't Look Back In Anger - Oasis (candidate for the most perfect solo ever, shockingly overlooked!)
Three Times Rana (Live intro) - Paul Gilbert (despite the Pablo being my favourite, I can't think of any other obvious moments)
Comfortably Numb - Pink Floyd
Bad Horsie - Steve Vai

Hotel California - The Eagles
Trojan Guitar - Hot Leg
Alive - Pearl Jam
Wanted Dead Or Alive - Bon Jovi (Sorry but the solo is corkingly good!)
Freebird - Lynyrd Skynyrd

Favourite probably Trojan Guitar, magic from Justin Hawkins.

Sylosis - Conclusion of an Age
The Black Dahlia Murder - Deathmask Divine
The Black Dahlia Murder - Nocturnal
Chimaira - Six (awesome bends galore)
Metallica - Wherever I may Roam

2. Cemetary Gates - Pantera

Just listened to that again, not heard it for a while, and I agree. Brilliant.

You people mentioning Oasis in a guitar solos thread should be shot in the face :p

A slightly eclectic mix from me:

Kenickie - Punka (yes really!)
Manics - Australia (Everything Must Go Album Version)
Manics - Born to End (Generation Terrorists)
Manics - Condemned to Rock N Roll (Generation Terrorists) - just for the fact that it manages to squeeze in just about every guitar solo cliche going up until that time :D

Manics - Sleepflower (Gold Against The Soul)
Manics - Indian Summer (Send Away The Tigers)

OCS - The Circle (both acoustic and the album version)

And as a final treat!

I know it's a bit obvious to pick Hendrix but I completely love his version of Red House and obviously Voodoo Chile is amazing too.

Also, Marley's No Woman No Cry and The Doors' L.A. Woman.
