Gerry Rafferty - Baker Street is the first one that comes to mind. I'll have a think about it and post again later though as there are certainly more.

Surprise to me :eek:, This intro just reminds me of School and youth club discos at the time, as soon as you heard that first chord, pile on the dance floor and belt 7 bells out the kid nearest you :D

Same reason as Maybe Tomorrow above, and pretty much became the archtype for a Punk intro;)

Also Slayer - Raining Blood, and South of Heaven is a good shout also.

Metallica - Orion.

The bass intro from My friend of misery gives me a stiffy.
