Hey guys,

Been searching for an answer to this on various forums but have not found one yet. Hopefully someone here can point me in the right direction.

My friend gave me his old Macbook Pro and I'm wanting to use it for editing. However, upon loading FCP7 the program will hang on "loading audio filters" and an error message pops up:

"Powered Plug-Ins Error: Unable to Communicate with UAD Hardware"

I'm a complete Mac noob to be honest, but I'm assuming the fact that my friend would have used this Mac for various Sound/Composition work has something to do with it.

I've looked through applications for a Powered Plug-ins Uninstaller but can't see anything, really am at a loss at what to do next.

Thanks in advance!

UAD is a hardware DSP unit used to power real time audio processing. The plugins for his audio work will also be picked up by Final Cut, and as such on loading the UAD software will complain and so stop it working. The easiest way to sort this is to look in your Library/Audio/Plugins folders and remove the UAD ones into somewhere else. That should sort it. :)
