Just been looking to download some demo's and found this one for free?

Is this the full multiplayer, and does it not require the original?

Bit confused, surely not, that's a bit mad to say the least if they've done that.

The file is app 450mb.

Yep. It's the full multiplayer (at patch 1.07). If you already own F.E.A.R. then it's a waste of a download as it's exactly the same as the retail multiplayer. Otherwise I recommend it as it's really quite a fun game, particularly considering you have to pay sod all. Also are you sure it's only 450mb, when I downloaded it to stick on my other PC it was like 1.5GB or something.

Aye, the one am busy downloading is anyway, thought i'd mention it as it was a bit on the small side.

Any chance of a link to where you got it?

No matter, went to their site, nearly 2gb, more like it.

Strange, gonna dload the other 500mb file as well, just to see what it is.

Yeah it was MP demo, cancelled dload in the end.

only 10% done, 5 hours to go

I downloaded extraction point, going to have a bash on that later, get used to the game a bit before i go get massacred on the MP maps.

But i also dld Lego Star Wars which after getting used to the controls is great, got Dark messiah to try out as well.

(good thing starting em off then going to the pub, coming back and having some good games to try)

With the free MP, you can play against people who own the full game but not against others who have the free version.

People with the full version can play against all.

Correct me if im wrong.

Eh, thats weird.

Surely the other way round would make more sense, free vs free?

So i can go into a full owners map and have no one free on it, surely you'd run out of maps?

Actually I think anyone can play against anyone. It doesn't matter if you've got F.E.A.R. retail or F.E.A.R. Combat (i.e. free). I think they've done it in order to boost sales of Extraction point (which will in turn boost sales of F.E.A.R. Retail). Either way it's good because the amount of players has increased dramatically.

Well am looking forward to it.

It might tempt me to buy it as well, wanted to see what its like 1st as its only £20 new.

lol well what a truly carp goose that was, six hours and 2gig bandwidth wasted later the file just locks up my pc, or slows it down to an unusable speed, then on reboot it wont post until i power off fully and on again. Wow, lol really not impressed with the free-ness at all, a virus would do similar and without the hassle :p

Wont be even tempted to purchase F.E.A.R now, not if my system does that with it (or should that be what F.E.A.R does to my system)

Yeah a lot of people get that problem, for some reason the exe takes ages to initialise, making your PC slow right down, no idea whats up but it works in the end...if you have the patience..

While I agree it sucks you can't blame that bit on Fear.

lol now i agree, and while no way should or could an app affect POST, it does, no other time do or have i had trouble getting pc to post, only after trying to run this... go figure

Still havent re-tried it this time with patience, but when i do, it better be as good as if not better than Far Cry lol, thats the standard, nothings beat it yet imho

To be honest, FEAR multiplayer is one of the most fun FPS experiences I've had in a long time - you could say that it's worth every penny ;)

Be sure to check out the coop warfare mod too - (and gah, I've lost the url...google is your friend)
