Hi,

Brought FEAR yesterday (first PC game I have brought)

I loaded it fine and everything goes well until about 5 mins into the game and it shuts itself down!

My specs are fine apart from my graphics cards (which I'm getting a new one)

Could this be the problem?

Many thanks

Well done for FEAR being the first game you've brought - where did you bring it from?
Your problems might depend on what graphics card it is you have? Plus other system specs! More details and people might be able to help!

I got it from a high street shop for £15 brand new!!

Been on the FEAR website and from what I can tell is that its only my card letting me down

I'll have a look at my system specs and do my best for some more info (not clued up on PC's really)

My specs are

Processor Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.00GHz
Processor Speed 2.92 GHz
Memory (RAM) 512 MB
Operating System Microsoft Windows XP Professional

Anyone help????

Well for a start to play FEAR well you will need at least 1gb of ram (preferably 2gb as its a resource hog).

That however would not explain the random shutting off of the game.

Do you get any error messages?

FEAR website says 512mb (RAM) is OK.

I get a message error from microsoft saying FEAR has encountered and has been closed.

Cant find out anything about my memory card.

Is the FEAR website the best place to download the new patch?

You should get a promt upon starting up FEAR, it normally tells you theres a new version avalible etc etc....

Get the new version and see what happens.

For graphics card model - go to the Control Panel - then click System - under this click the hardware tab then select device manager. a list of hardware like things should come up - expand display adapters - your graphics card should be listed here.
Otherwise go to start-run - type 'dxdiag' - when the directx diagnostic tool comes up - click the display tab - the name in the top left should be that of your graphics card.

Strange that it starts and then dies - is it doing anything special at the point it dies - or is it random?

Just a quick question, i started playing FEAR last night, i'm about 3 hours into the game, if i patch the game will it affect my saved game?
