I've been playing FEAR, but i'm bored of it after a couple of hours. FEAR looks amazing, I just can't be bothered to play it through.

Does it get any more interesting?

I was thinking of selling it and buying a new game, but I don't think there is anything else on the market. :confused:

Call of Duty 2 ?
Half-Life 2: Episode One ?
 
It gets pretty tense in some of the later sections. Try giving it another hour or two and see if it picks up (trying not to spoil anything here) :)

I found the very end of the game to be a bit of a let down to be honest, but it was still a reasonably good FPS game all in all.

Tried out the free online multiplayer?

F.E.A.R, yes, well the story line is somewhat different than your classic alien invasion, or WW2. To be honest thats the only reason to continue to play in my opinion, the combat won't progress past what you have already seen, you'll be battling the same characters, in the same coridors, untill the end.

The Call of Duty series is good enough to buy, look into "Prey", classic story line but with a twist. I enjoyed Prey a lot.

The Half-Life series is a must, all the way back to HL1.

Have a browse though some online retailers, look at their best sellers, i'm sure there will be something you would enjoy...

I've tried FEAR multiplayer. Not really up to the standard of CSS.

Bascially I want a game as good as HL2:CSS. Probably asking too much. HL2 is easily the best game / engine.

I tried BF2, nice idea, poor execution.

Is COD2 multiplayer buggy and clunky? Is it a resource hog?
 
get HL on the source engine.

i thought FEAR was pretty good, it did get a bit tedious towards the end but most FPSs do.

i got more bored of HL2 than fear cos in fear you can do a flying kick in slow-mo which always cracks me up. plus the grenades exploded in a nice way.

i havent played anymore FPSs past FEAR since my PC is pretty much dead.
 
Are you after multiplayer or single player?

Single player wise, if you liked Half-Life 2, then you should enjoy Half-Life 2: Episode One, though it's only about 4 hours long.

Multiplayer, if you're such a CS:S nut, then you'll probably not get into a lot of other multiplayer games. Have a go a Battlefield 2, Day of Defeat: Source for team based multiplayer, and perhaps Quake 4 for both single and multiplayer.
 
I don't like DoD:Source, I feel crippled by the fact it takes ages to go from scoped to non scoped view. More realistic i guess but just doesnt feel right imo.

Looks amazing though :D
 
if your specifically looking for an SP try Prey, im on the final chapter after having it installed 1 day and playing it kinda over the top, needless to say its a pretty short game.

That really sums up the whole game fairly well.
 
CSS is rubbish compared to CoD UO / CoD 2 multiplayer (admitadly CoD UO was much better then CoD 2 in mp, but after you get used to CoD 2 & if you play as a clan it does really start to shine)!

I played some more of FEAR last night. I'm up to interval4. I'm quite enjoying it now. I always wait until the evening to play it. The grenades / fire / death animation is pretty wicked. It's not as adventurous as HL1.

I saw the review of Prey and the bow and arrow thing looked pretty ghey!

I'll probably buy HL2 episode 2 ( and cod2 sometime.

Urban terrir looks interesting. How many servers are there?
 
I've not played it in a while but there used to be a fair few servers about when I did. Mostly I just play it at LANs now.

Iirc, they're releasing a new version of UT in the near future that should wake up the community somewhat :)
