Feature rich and stable......for Q6600?

The ds4 is a good board but you asked for a feature rich board - the ds4 isnt.

Both good boards - get whatever fills your needs most.

That made me laugh, ds4 has more sata II connection than most of the other boards.

8 sata II, firewire, and a superb board for normal/overclocking use.

Also comes with an e-sata kit.

Lol but its not exactly feature rich is it - most of the gigabyte rage have the same features.

The asus also has wi-fi

all depends upon your definition of feature rich doesn't it?
Maybe he doesn't need wifi integrated into the mobo?

Another "feature rich" mobo worth looking at is the abit IP35 Pro.

abit IP35 Pro (possibly IP35 if it has enough features for you)
Gigabyte P35-DS3P/DS4
whichever asus P5K variant takes your fancy
MSI P35 Platinum

I second that.
Very nice Mobo and has no problems reaching high FSB for some nice overclocks :)

That's a whole heap of motherboard for under a ton!

I've been reading up on the ASUS range of P35 mobos for the last few days and finally decided on Sunday night that the board above was 'the one'

It's the cheapest board in the range that features ASUS 8-Phase Power Design which is a nice thing to have on a mobo, although I think this feature suits an overclocker more it should stand you in good stead for keeping your Quad-Core happy.

There is an identical board called the P5K-E which doesn't have the Wifi but I couldn't source it so I went with the board above.

For somebody who isn't overclocking I would also consider this board. . .

It's one of the cheapest boards in the P5K family but it still retains quite a lot of features from its bigger brothers. Its had its SATA ports cut down from six to four and doesn't feature INTEL Matrix RAID.

It doesn't have the 8-Phase Power Design feature either but as I said before I'm sure not that would effect a 'Non-Overclocker' so much?

The price difference between the P5K and the P5K-E Wifi is pretty small so I went for the latter, the black PCB was the clincher for me lol! :D

has anyone ever bought the foxconn? they seem to produce some decent layout and well priced boards but everyone seems to ignore them and head elsewhere for the confusing and constant revisions and bios's of the gigabytes which seem to have a fair few bugs?

They all have loads of problems. Every one of them. And anyone who says they don't either doesn't use all the features or is deluding themselves.

Pretty much all the boards have all the features because they are integrated onto the chipset so the 'top-end' boards now need to have even fancier stuff (like Wifi) integrated but it doesn't make them any better - the truly better boards have better power regulation and superior components (real copper in the chipset coolers, heatpipes that actually have heat-transfer gas in them rather than air), not to mention actually being improvements over the standard chipset eg. Gigabyte P35-DQ6 or Abit IP35-Pro.

If I was shopping for sockets on the back with a reliable motherboard, I'd buy ASRock - something like a Conroe or Penryn X-Fire eSATA (~£50) and spend half the money I saved on a good WiFi card and a SoundBlaster Extreme Music.

P5K has 5 SATA ports. 1 is by the JMicron controller & is located (on your pic) top, just above the 2 PCI slots which are together :)
Yes thats correct, perhaps I should have said 'Native' INTEL ICH9 SATA Ports! :)
