I got a 6680 on O2 in october but now i'm fed up of it! Its slow and like a huge brick! I can't even take photos any more cos its always out of memory no matter how much I delete, Also with bluetooth on the battery life is terrible and the outlook syncronisation is not as good as my old C500.

At the moment I think I am going to maybe sell it and unlock my old C500 and use that but in the long term I fancy a different phone. All it needs to do is be decent for texting and hold a lot of texts (say 1000) and be quite small. I looked at the C600 but at the moment they seem to be £170 on the bay when they are def going to drop to abut £120 on payg within a year.

I think I should be able to get around £140 for it? as I dont thing O2 lock their phones. so what could I get for that?

Hold down the menu key and see what applications you've got open. Switch to unwanted applications and close them. That should free up some memory.

I am currently using a 3230 (which is also S60). How do you specify that you want text messages to be stored on the memory card? This phone has so little built in memory that anyway to save some of it is most welcome!

thanks.

Most of the time it doesnt even work when only telephone is open!

It sounds to me like the phones internal memory is full. Try deleting your text messages and removing other things that are installed on the internal memory.

Well it says I have 1.8Mb free on internal memory... anyway the main reason i'm fed up with the phone is because it's a brick. Has anyone got any suggestions?

If I were you I'd try a hard reset and get rid of a lot of the crap thats on there. And personally I think you'd find the C500 a step back, certainly not any where as good a phone. My phone lasts about 3 days with decent usage and BT on. Perhaps you have a dodgy battery?

C600 is supposed to be a good phone but it doesn't have a flash on it!

I'm not sure, the screen is a lot brighter and sharper and the same size but the phone is a lot smaller, There also seem to be way more free apps for windows that symbian, but on the downside the camera isn't as good.

Having the same memory problems with my 6680 and i've only had it for 3 weeks, everything is stored on the memory card, the only way to sort it is to switch it off and switch it back on again. I've taken it back to vodafone who have said it's a sofware problem and said they will send it off to be looked at.

Does anyone know if i would be able to take it into the local nokia service centre and get them to look at it and hopefully flash it to the latest firmware (if it's not already) and also debrand it?

you can get it dont from nokia service centres but they would charge you £20 for the debranding, this would involve flashing it to the latest nokia firmware

If there's a geniune software fault, Nokia will reflash it for free within the first 12 months. They won't (shouldn't?) debrand the phone for you though.

Simple solution to the problem - buy a bigger memory card. I did that myself (got a 512 MB Kingston memory card) and am very happy, part for the fact that the phone is slow - i don't mind it being a brick - it's actually a good thing as I can always feel it in my pocket, so I know it's not there the moment I loose it :).

well mine came back from vodafone where i was told they replaced the keypad PCB - the problem is still the same, i'm a big texter and receive a lot of text even though i delete them all as soon a read/sent the phone still tells me it's out of memory towards the end of the day, only way to sort, as said before, is to switch it off.

I took it into the Nokia service centre on wednesday and was told it sounded like a software problem and they checked the version the phone had and said there was a newer version - why didn't vodafone update the software?

So i was told if it was a software problem i would get a call friday to go collect, if i didn't get a call friday, it would mean there was more to it and they would have to send it back to nokia, no call so i assume it's been sent off to nokia

I've had the phone almost 7 weeks (2 of which it would have been at a service centre)

Do i have any legal standing with regards to the item not being fit for purpose? As i'm now thinking this is too much hassel and i just want get a different phone
