I don't see me needing more than 1920x1200 any time soon.

I agree as far as 16:10, which is why I've got a 1920x1200 monitor - they seem to barely exist now. Problem is I suppose most people don't mind/don't understand and it fits in line with the TV ratio.
Certainly welcome higher res: sure some games are taxing but let's be fair we've got access to high graphical power - let's put it to good use!

I always thought the Samsung 2243BW was interesting being 23" and 2048 x 1152.
To think it came out in 2008 and we now only seem to just be going above 1920 x 1080 in 2012
I too would really like higher resolution 24" (ish) monitors. I have a dell xps l502x which has a 1080p screen at 15.6" and it looks amazing compared to my 23.6" 1080p (LG W2363D) monitor.
