Fed up with Nero bloatware

pretty sure nero vision is a video convertor thing. The best one is convertX to dvd but it's not free. As far as I'm aware, most of the free solutions are pretty tricky and involve command line stuff.

i thought Nero was a cd burning tool.

'Nero burning rom' is such a thing. Sometime after version 5 Nero suddenly became a bloat fest with about 25 different apps, 'quick' launchers, desktop tool bars, about 3 different versions of cd burning software, the incredible annoying way you have to choose between dvd or cd right at the start of the process with no way to change without doing it all again.., audio tools, video tools, tea making facilities, and a kitchen sink.

At that point I switched to imgburn.

Thanks for all you replies. With nero vision you can convert episodes of a program to DVD but it will also shrink to fit and give you menus. So for example I could get 12 episodes of the Simpsons and convert them to DVD (Vob files) all on one disc with no real loss in quality. When watching the DVD I can choose which episode to watch.

I have tried another program called Winavi which is very fast in converting but does not give you menus so to watch a particular episode you have to fast forward to the one you want to watch.

I happen to think most of the nero "bloatware" are quite useful, also you can select which ones to install or not. I using nero 9 atm

EDIT: apatia77 that sig speaks the truth!

Hate Nero with a passion now, v6 IIRC was pretty quick and easy but now it's just ridiculous.

I've opted with Ashampoo and not looked back. Very nice software and if you do a Google search, you can get Burning Studio 2009 absolutely free.
