Right, well first off I'm contemplating getting a dedicated/discrete soundcard, but I'm pretty skint for the now.

Iv been wondering if there worth it for a while, but never intreaged enough to spend a lot of money on one till now. My onboard sound card is giving me jip and annoying the hell out of me. it decides what speakers it wants to let work at any given time, and sometimes even ignores the jacks. And crackles when windows is starting up. after updating the drivers nothing changed.

Right now my system isn't top of the range, but can nearly handle anything on near full settings without too much problem (i think my sig is up to date). My system is majoritivley used for gaming and music, and am using a Logitech X530.

I dono what company is best to go for. Id rather not spend too much money as i need food obviously. so any help guys?

If you don't want to spend a lot, can't go wrong with the Xonar DG. Great buy for £20 or so. I would avoid the Creative Audigy SE. The Xonar DG is a better card for about the same money.
