FedEx - How late do they deliver?

I'm expecting a delivery today (new contact lenses) which are coming from the US via FedEx. According to their Tracking page, it arrived at my local depot this morning and is out for delivery.

However, it's now just gone 5pm and still no delivery and there isn't a card in the mail to say I've missed them. So...that can only mean two things. Either they deliver later than 5pm, or the more likely, I won't get them until tomorrow.

Anyone happen to know how late they deliver til?
I've tried their customer service number but it's all Automated :p

Unfortunatly not, there's 5 options, one is to check shipping status, but it's automated. The others are all do to with account holders. 0 just repeats the options again.

If you don't press anything, it will go through to an operator. They usually provide this as not everyone has a touch tone phone. Goodness knows why as most phones have been touch tone compatible for decades.

You were both right in a way. There's an option to go through to an oporator if you don't have your tracking number. I picked that and bingo.

According to the lady the parcel should have been delivered by 12 noon today so she's now chasing the Manager of my Local depot to find out why it hasn't been delivered. Expecting a call back shortly...don't expect the result to be anything more than a "it'll be out tomorrow".

Fed Ex is Business post.
Business post = Franchised Depots.

Business post = Owner drivers.

Owner Drivers = 5pm, you are not getting it, as they are like me, at home with their feet up by now.

Fedex is not business post, Fedex contracts out to business post.

If your package isnt there tomoz bump this topic and I'll be able to help you more than the crappy customer services.

They use Business post to carry their stuff over here, so for the purpose of the conversation, they are Business post.

You work for them?
As i've been offered contracts with two different depots to drive for them.

You can throw some wait around to busy them up.

Just had a call from the local Fedex Manager. The pacakge is indeed being handled by Business Post so it'll most likely be tomorrow morning now. Hes going to phone me back to let me know what's gone wrong.

I know it's come all the way from Canada, but still it's supposed to be before noon delivery once it's arrived in the UK.

Yeah, I work at Stansted doing custom clearances.

It's entirely possible that I may have cleared it as well :D

Status Update...

Apr 20, 2006 7:31 AM - On FedEx vehicle for delivery - HEMEL HEMPSTEAD GB
Apr 19, 2006 11:24 AM - Delivery exception - HEMEL HEMPSTEAD GB - Customer not available or business closed

I was assured last night that it shoul dbe here first thing today. I've taken this morning off work to make sure that there is someone here (although someone was in yesturday). If it's not here by 10:30am though I'll be heading off to work, as that's not what I call first thing :p

The problem with business post is that they don't really guarantee delivery times, though you never know your luck!

Fedex do operate around here as well as Business Post though, we have a fedex guy coming into my work all the time in fedex uniform with a fedex truck, guess it depends on your location.

I'm in work now, but jus tto let all who are wondering, the parcel arrived at 9:35am this morning. I prompty popped in my new contact lenses and went off to work.

So glad not to be wearing glasses again.
