I've been approached by a company (well I made the initial enquiry out of interest) about hosting a LoRaWAN antenna on the gable end of my new build house as part of their LoRaWAN smart meter network they are building. The deal is I get paid £350 each year for having the antenna on the side of my house, although they claim it uses 7w of power so it will cost about £15 a year in leccy at the current price cap rate.

Would anyone here do this, what's your thoughts? I'm tempted but I'm sceptical.

I've decided not to go ahead. For anyone wanting to know, the company is called Netmore. I'm not sure what the terms are that I would have to sign but I would have thought internal access would not be needed after the installation as I assume it's only powered by a standard 13amp socket.

It's nothing to do with the housing developer though. Maybe if I was skint or pre-lottery win then I might have been all over it but you are right, I don't need that extra £350 a year. :D

I’d be concerned about if the power goes out do you end ip being held accountable for lost revenue.

It would also be taxable..

Also what can’t they operate their own tower?

If a neighbour gets cancer later on and it’s proven link.. you could be co-defendant.

Their argument is that it's cheaper to put these on side of houses than having to go through the whole process of installing their own cell towers.
