Hi,

after spending a year travelling i finally picked up my showreel again. I have decided to split it into short movies instead of 1 long one.

the other 2 are gonna follow the same theme, so i am just looking for some feedback from people so far...

CLICK HERE to view it or right click and save as. it is in WMV format and 11 megs in size.

I am mainly looking for feedback about the way i have constructed the showreel as in does it flow nice, not too fast..etc...etc... the actual content is finished and complete and in the shops so that can not be changed.

Thanks

Tim

having not even watched the showreel, I would suggest that you present it in either quicktime or flash video. WMV is the work of satan.

are you saying that microsoft are satan or WMV are rubbish? i am doing tests with quicktime using soreson 3 compressor and the files sizes have been bigger. In the end, yes i will use quicktime but i just used WMV as the ratio of quality/size is good.

did you find it difficult to watch? any stuttering? or are you just against WMV?

I'd get rid of the background and have the dvd menu full screen, when you have the 3 screens and the camera zooms from one to the other, I think it'd look better if you had all 3 screens lined up horizontally next to each other with either a white or black background. Or you could do the screens 24 style where you have the 3 at different sizes but positioned so the whole screen is taken up. I'm not too keen on the music either, I take it that its a stock library soundtrack?

just against wmv.

used to prefer quicktime, but now flash video has a place in my heart.

I'm just against wmv as it is a nightmare to embed into a webpage, which is probably where your showreel will end up I'm presuming, the embed process for quicktimes and flash is far nicer and looks better. Also a lot of people viewing your shworeel might be using macs.

thanks for the pointers. will take them into consideration.

the music is always a problem for stuff like this, i got it from a friend who does his own electronic music has done for many years as a hobby. i might review the situation and use some of the audio from the DVD menus.

cheers

in the end i will use quicktime once i have found the correct quality/size ratio.

thanks for your opinion/advice.
