hi guys, i spent today designing and putting together my website. I wanted to go for a minimal type look. I may chop and change certain pics and may add to it here and there but I'd really appreciate any comments / feedback etc on it if you get a minute. Thanks!

Hey matey,

I've always been a fan of the minimalist approach! And sticking with white and a small shadow border is always a nice touch to accommodate the separation for different screen sizes.

That being said, I think it would be better to see the introduction of who you are first. Clicking on the link right now makes it feel a little like I've just jumped into the middle of someone's galleries.

I do like the light box style pop ups, might be worth adding the ability to skip though them while one is already open..wait ignore that I can see its already there, my iPad wouldn't pick it up to start =]

One other thing would be your name at the top, might be worth having a banner at the top say black or grey with a nice gradient on it, with your name in a slightly more unusual font.. Nothing to outrageous, just something that pops a bit.

Good start though =D

^ thanks! I think you may be right, I reckon the text in the 'about me' section (and maybe a bit more) should be on the index page...with 4 or 8 pics underneath perhaps.

I'll get photoshop up and running tomorrow to try and do a cheeky little banner :)

edit: And yes, you can scroll through the images, even with your mouse wheel...i was umming and arring over whether to actually make it more obvious (by way of an instruction of some sort i suppose)

I like the minimalist look too, but everything is just tiny on my screen. 17" laptop monitor at 1920x1200.

hmmn, well i actually designed it on a 27" imac but i wanted to make sure it all fits in place on a 15" laptop given that that's what a lot of people use. Thumbs are 75x75 but i will try making them 85x85 and making the frame slightly wider..

I like it. Clearly shows the photos, no clutter, simple menus, straight to the point. Exactly what I'd be looking for if I was hiring a photographer.

I think it will be obvious enough, just on iPad there is no cursor to hover over the image and make the arrows appear. Works fine as it is, unless you want to make the arrows permanently visible rather than a hover.

I see what people are saying about the screen size, but you are right considering the smallest monitor factor. Most websites tend to do this these days, you could consider having a bg image of something black and white, latest photo maybe? but nothing too OTT

Now you're asking! It'll be in the details of the jQuery plugin I'm sure. I'll have a look if I get the chance, but if you post in the relevant forum on here I'm sure you'll get a more accurate answer much faster than me attempting to work it out =]
