Feedback problems using microphone

Hello

I've just built a new pc and I'm having some sound issues. My build used an Abit IP35 mobo and im using the built in sound. Whenever i use the microphone such as on ventrilo or a games built in transmit function the microphone transmits the sound coming out of my headset and/or speakers even when they are unplugged. I know this isnt an issue with my headset as it worked perfectly on my old build so I was wondering if anyone had a bright idea on how to fix this?

probably something to do with the auto jack detection crap or something along those lines. the onboard sound probably detects when a jack has been plugged in or pulled out...maybe it thinks the mic is the speakers as its not normal to have a mic plugged in and no speakers.

disable the auto detection.....it will be there somewhere
