I do like a drop of bubbly :)

Not a big Bolly fan, the Verve Cliq is a nice drop for the price, I think the nicest I've had is a mainstream Krug but I am also keen on Perrier Jouet Belle Epoc.

get yourself to Vegas , go to Ballys and on a Sunday lunch sample the "sterling brunch" for $60 you get caviar , lobster , filet mignon and dozens of other goodies but bets of all unlimited Periier Jouet , managed to polish off 3 bottles to myself last time :p

12 cases of Piper sounds good , loads better than Moet and a similar price

For the Veuve I'll either fight you for it or meet you at the bottom of the bottle ;)

.

it aint me you you would have to fight for it it's the missus , that's what she was drinking at the Liverpool meet , Veuve with fresh crushed raspberries in . nice if you are drinking it but not if you are paying for it at 11 quid a go  :p

It was Muban I was offering to fight for it, think 'the internet' has removed all your rights to your belongings :p

how does this one sound , took my mum for mother's day lunch today looked at the champagne menu , Moet £34.99 , Veuve £35.99

am I missing something here , why the **** would you buy the Moet ?

Its often that way and I've no idea why.

Reckon its just because some people have wine/champagne only on special occasions and don't have any idea about whats nice.

My mum and dad got me a bottle of Moet when I was a kid to be drunk on my 18th. I always wanted to drink it early and they never let me. By the time I turned 18 it'd gone bad.

Wonder if I'd have even noticed :p

I have a real dislike of Moet , has a horrible chemical taste to me , at that sort of money Piper is loads better , didn't have any with lunch today but polished off 3 bottles of an excellent Marlborough sauvignon , not bad for an afternoon in Mansfield :p

Veuve is cheaper in local supermarkets which always surprises me as it's so much nicer. A classic case of marketing over substance.

at supermarket prices I normally see Moet at about £17 and Veuve about a tenner more

~£30 on the high street for the NV gear (shown above). The '96 is gorgeous and ~£60.

yep 30 quid is about right , you dont usualy see vintage bollinger on the high street , is the 96 really worth the extra ?

Blimey, £17? Where do you shop, Lidl? :D

In Waitrose earlier today, Moet was £27, Veuve £26.

don't buy moet but my local offy has it at under 20 quid , 26 for veuve is good though

At £17 I'd be hard pushed to pass it up, a couple of bottles of Veuve/Bollinger then onto the Moet and you won't tell the difference anyway ;).

still tastes like a chem lab experiment though :p

when we sorted the champagne for our wedding the Bellagio sent me the list , how does $950 a bottle for Cristal sound ( being the USA you can add another 25% for tax and tip onto that ) we settled for an assortment of Veuve and Mumm at $90 a bottle in the end :p

It will be, but it's on a par with Dom P in my brief experience, which is 1/3rd of the price.

I know a nice restaurant where , when you get the sorbet between starter and main course , they pour dom pom on it :D

As it should be! :D

A £25 a sorbet assuming four of you though does have the words 'liberty' and 'taking' rushing to mind though :).

the sorbet was free ( i think ) but the bill for 4 came to £550  :p

I was drinking Krug the other day - £190 a bottle :o

The guy who bought it though was an absolute **** so we didn't feel guilty drinking it at all (and all the other champagne cocktails) ... although it didn't taste anything special.

Probably the first and last time it will happen though! Moet is fine with me ;)

BB x

free champagne , always the best sort :)
