Amazing what a piece of 'cheese' can do, isn't it? :o :D

...but seriously, I just fancy something new. I'm also starting to think that my G400 is a little too light for me (long / medium range sniping, for example). I don't want to spend hundreds, but would still like something high quality which is aimed (:D) at fps gamers. An optical sensor is a must. Weights are a possibility.

TIA.

Just got a Corsair M65 RGB. Great mouse. Not too light or too heavy. It has a nice sniper button on the side to reduce DPI which works well. I use it for FFS gaming only problem is that it has a laser sensor

Use a G500 here, (laser though) weight package is a lot more useful than i first thought it would be. Similair in shape to the G400 so you would get used to it pretty easily. Came from an older G5 which has the same shape and the weight package, mainly play fps were ive found the 500 to be very good. Theres also the newer G502, (optical sensor) bit more expensive though and a less traditional shape.

I should add that so far I've used :

G5

+ great build quality
- too high (raised) / 'maybe' a tad too large (medium sized hands)
- laser sensor

Deathadder (older version)

+ very comfortable indeed
+ possibly my imagination, but I think it's the most accurate mouse I've used to date
+ best wheel I've used without a doubt
- build quality (not bad exactly, but certainly the weakest in that regard so far)

Gigabyte M6900

+ best mouse for the money (paid around £10 - £12 for it / was normally £15!)
+ good mouse wheel
+ accurate
+ comfortable
- build quality (like the deathadder, but worse - not bad though)

I'm right handed btw.

Also, I won't go for anything wireless.

That zowie mouse looks / reads very good. Cheers for the link.

I wonder what the difference between the FK1 and FK2 is?

I just noticed it has been developed for claw gripped play, where as I tend to use the palm of the hand.

The FK2 is just a smaller version of the FK1 (afaik)

I used the MX518 for 8years an then fancied a change,

Got the Zowie EC2 like 6 months ago, an now the FK1 for a couple of months,

Really good mouse, simple plug and play. I know many people rate it highly but tbh I don't think my aim has improved from changing from MX518, if anything it might be slightly worse but obviously its all personal preference. It's quite a slim mouse which works well with claw grip styles... It can be palmed, but I don't think its the ideal shape for it (unless you have small hands).

I miss the big/wide shape/ass of the MX518/G400 so am going to try Logitech's new models, although they look a bit crappy. The G400/s seems to be discontinued and idk if I like the look of the G402/G502.

Tbh only you will know if its the right mouse for you, if you can order some you like the look of and just return the ones that don't suit you. I would definitely recommend the FK1 to try though.

I've had my deathadder 3.5G model for over 4 years now and it shows no signs of wear at all, razer build quality can be hit or miss in some things but their mice are top notch in my experience.
Two razer mice have lasted me 10 years and counting.

I've been using the SS Rival for months now, was wicked for fps gaming in Bo2 / BF4. Generally its great for everything....for me anyways :D But for the best fps accuracy for me, will always be the laser sensei.

G502 but if you wanna be bold and trust me it's worth it the G602 is amazing, yes a wireless mouse and this is coming from a die hard fps player. Optical sensor, 250 hours per set of batteries (still on my first set after 4 weeks and I game a lot), 500hz, wifi and no more dragging cables. If you didn't look you'd swear it' was corded.

Vortez says

"Logitech’s G602 redefines the Wireless Gaming Mouse experience. Gamers needn’t worry about poor battery life which depletes rapidly, nor do they need to worry about latency issues. G602 offers extensive operating times with pinpoint accuracy and motion. Also on offer is a plethora of customisation and we have no hesitation in giving out our prestigious gold award and creative award for innovation."

Ive had over last 2-3 years..

Deathadder 2013
Steelseries Rival
Zowie FK1
Logitech G302

loved the deathadder but its well worn now... rival and FK1 i just couldnt get on with due to the shape and me having small hands...

G302 is best mouse ive used since MX300 and Mx518.

Only games i play are FPS games aswell.

If u got bigger hands go for G402 or G502... logitech are on top form with there current mice!

Cyborg R.A.T 7 is better... more accurate, slightly improved feel.

I have had the RAT longer but it was in the office for a month while I had new build with M65RGB... The RAT is just better, more accurate and better weighted... slightly better feel too.

Got for RAT... you won't regret it :)
