I need to send her a text saying I'm ill and cant come in. I havent really had a job in ages so dont really know what to say lol. Seems silly to ask but dont want to say something retarded.

Thanks

Don't text. Ring them up and explain. Texting makes you seem as though you cant be bothered, unless you have completely lost your voice and are unable to speak at all!

Though I would drag myself in anyway, unless I was physically unable to work.

Kinda on topic.

A mate of mine was shopping with his girlfriend and for some reason she decided to ring work and say she was too ill to go in. She works at a pub and was due to start at 6pm. She rang at 3 or so. But the stupid thing is, she was obviously shopping as it was very crowded and the first thing work said to her?

Work: "You seem well enough to go shopping."
Her: "Um..."

Stupid girl.

Don't text - ring as everyone has said.

And to the conundrum of what to say to your boss when you are ill, I give you this sentence:

"Hi, I am sorry but I am very ill and cannot make it in to work today (If it's not an embarrassing thing like anal fissures, possible say what you are ill with) I will ring you to let you know if I am feeling better for the rest of the week later on"

Took me two hours to write that for you I hope you use it wisely.

Just ring. “Hi boss, I’ve got flu, see you next year, I must lie down again, bye”, should work a treat. :D

A few companies I have worked for have had clauses in contracts stating that text messages are not acceptable when informing anyone of illness or any reason you can't make it in. You had to call 1 hour before work started, minimum. Or faced disiplinary/dismissal.

So call, just say you were up during the night being sick, haven't got a lot of sleep and won't be able to focus/do you job properly but that you will be in tomorrow.
