Female Coax Socket Sheath

Hi all,

One of my walls sockets has a damaged inner sheath, which I've removed and tried to straighten up. However, refitting it will be a nightmare and I can see it being bent again by any plug going into the socket.

Can anyone tell me if this bit is important please? Does it act as any shielding? This is what it looked like before, ish, not my socket but you get the point.

It's there to ensure a good contact between the outer plug shell and the socket.

If you still have a good picture then don't worry about it, if not buy a new faceplate.

I thought as much but just wanted to be sure it wasn't for any safety aspect. The socket is so snug without it and more importantly the signal is great so I'll leave it out.
