Female F Connector to Male Coax?

I have a cable from the wall that looks like a Male F Connector:

Should i be able to use an adapter like this?

I could be wrong but there's usually a satellite (nearly always a sky one) dish on the other end. Have you checked?

It has an attenuator on the end so it looks like a Virgin Media cable so it's probably going to be no use to your TV. You need a Virgin Media box and viewing card to tune and descramble.
