Fender Jap models

Just started playing the guitar after many years out and I'm thinking of buying a stratocaster.

I remember the Japanese models were pretty a good bang for your buck so to speak but I see they are making the reissues again in Japan.

Wondered what they are like compared to the old jap reissue strats?

or is there a better option in that kind or price band.

Yes, they are non-export. I have the chance of one though.

From what I've read tonight the premium ones seem pretty fantastic value for money.
