How do they do Ferrari Place there V engines?

Are they like this, like MR2s use

The black dots in the white squares are suposed to reprisent the pistons :p


Just curious how they have done it :)
 
Presumably longitudinal. Seeing as V8s and higher are pretty long when compared to a Japanese four pot.

Probably some variations in different cars, though.

Nowadays they tend to mount them longitudinally (in the most recent ones) but they did a lot of tranverse fitted engines, like the 308 and the Dino. Think the Mondial was the last transverse one in the 80s? Can't remember :)

BTW - a V8 will typically be the same length as a four pot....Think about it ;)

Sometimes they can lay lower as well, due to the angle of the banks, whereas a four cylinder will tend to be orientated close to vertical.

They are, overall, larger assemblies however and tend to be wider (obviously :))
