Ferrari Luce EV

For me, a Ferrari is all about the drama and the sound. Even the Pursoss... Pure-sange? Purosangue? sounds good when it starts up. This is the same reason the EV version of the Dodge Charger has been a total flop, despite being stupid fast. People just don't want a Dodge that makes no noise.
Saying that though, the Mustang Mach E seems to sell reasonably well.

Your last point about the Mach E selling well is probably down to the fact it's appealing to a different buyer, despite being Mustang in name only. I.e. it's a SUV format EV which is a popular combination when you look at what's selling out there. If it were a coupe, it probably wouldn't sell because as you say, it's the same Mustang format but without the character.

People don't want an EV version of proper performance cars. EVs might be fast, but they have less soul than a lump of dog poo. Nothing will ever change that, not even Ferrari can do it.

If technology comes along where the weight of a lego sized motor with 200hp with AA size battery can power a bike for 1000 miles, I'd forgive it not having vroom vroom sound

True, but range is far from the top of the list of attributes people buy performance cars for. If anything, the worse the MPG, the more exciting the car, you could argue. (taking American cars with a pinch of salt as they can't build engines for toffee)

That's an MR2 underneath with a Temu bodykit, right?

Whoose going to pay 500k plus for something that looks like a generic 50k saloon car with stats that trades blows with Tesla's that sell for a fraction of the sticker price?

3 billion of their stock price is a clear early indicator of what a miss they've come with

Won’t turn heads. Won’t be desirable unless the owner is looking to pull Greta.

In all seriousness it looks like it’s got a double chin, muffin top and a fat roll on the boot.

Am I missing why 90% of people buy a ferrari?

Just ugly.

No reason, at all, you can't build a fun, enjoyable, desirable EV. That looks like a Chinese knock off of a Volvo.

So why has no one managed it so far?

No one found a working formula yet.

There are EVs which look nice but just don't create any emotional attachment, so still end up being white goods. Some people also buy rare supercars as an investment, but this isn't going to appreciate ever. Collectors don't want to keep an EV in their collection as it's eventually going to need replacement battery packs specific to the car, which may be impossible to find in future.

If you were a kid and you're Dad was bringing home a "Ferrari". How disappointed would you be when they turned up in THAT
