I have already got my tickets to T In The Park, but a couple of mates wanna go to Leeds. Firstly which one is normally better Reading or Leeds and secondally, is it really worth going to two festivals.

worth going to two: yes if you like going to festivals, all depends on what bands you want to see

general concensus is that reading is better than leeds, but it varies year to year

Creamfields last year was full of degenerate scum! Plus Global Gathering is better organised :p

The Gathering camping arrangements were dire last year I heard (first time they did it though, so they can be forgiven... if they learned lessons).

Oh, I didn't camp so didn't experience that bit. What was wrong with it?

To be honest I was lying when I said it was better organised, a friend of mine bought VIP tickets but the guys on the door wouldn't give them their wristbands so they couldn't use the VIP area :\

Friend of mine went last year and came back with 3 main gripes... Firstly, it took them (iirc) 3 hours to get past the security checks and into the camp site. They were checking everyone for alcohol and drugs. Second gripe was that, because of the checks, drugs were quite literally just lying all over the ground outside the campsite. That should definitely not have happened. And the third gripe was the alcohol bannage in the camp site.

Could you imagine if they tried that at Reading? It believe that fact wasn't advertised either, and everyone had to leave beer in their cars. The second morning most of the camping folks just mooched out to their cars and got leathered. Pointless rule really.

that's crazy, how can you expect a festival without beer... or at least without sillily overpriced beer

lol as fun as that sounds, I agree, it really shouldn't have happened  Glad I didn't go camping last year!

In the absence of Glasto this year, I'm heading to spain for Benicassim. The lineup doesn't appeal to me too much at the moment, but there's still loads more bands to be added ("heavily rumoured" include Radiohead, Sigur Rós, and Flaming Lips), and for me, a festival is more about the atmosphere than the bands involved. Beaches, beer, bands, babes, what more could you ask for from a summer festie?

Rob.

Sounds good, about 2 years back i went to a reggae festival on a hidden beach in Spain, was a fantastic night started around 8pm with bands playing till about 4am then just people doing typical reggae scene things for a long time and then lying on a beach all the next day sleeping :D

yeh quite a lot of my friends are going, the line up doesnt appeal to me at all but they keep asking me to come, just tryna justify spending £150 on a flight, £100 or so on ticket for bands i dont like/never heard of.

i'm heading to benicassim this year, to be honest it's not bad value and the line up could be far worse. and it's certain to be better than reading

/shivers at the very thought of reading
