The first looks a teeny bit soft to me even resized(The second one is quite good however however) Maybe down to the shutter speeds being 1/80th and 1/100th? I'd probably push the ISO to 1600 especially as your subject is moving to obtain sharper results. I'm too wobbly to get decent results below 1/200th

It's always nice to see ducks on the forum though.
 
Sorry to hijack your thread but I wanted to illustrate the type of results this lens gives. This is what I managed to get yesterday, and you should see the same sort of shapness at 100%:

ISO 200, 200mm F5.6, 1/500th

I like ducks more than flies though but there are no ducks in my garden
