Hi,

I'm about to receive my Corsair H80i and I'm thinking of giving away my old CPU Cooler to a friend however, I have a few questions:

Which thermal paste would you recommend to my friend to install my old CPU cooler in his PC?
What products do you recommend that I can use to remove the old thermal compound off both the heatsink and CPU? (preferably items that you can find in your household) I was told that Nail Polish Remover might work but I'm not 100% certain.

Thanks for the recommendation. I was also wondering, are there any specific 'hierarchies' in terms of thermal compound? I've seen them being sold at different prices so I just wondered if 'one was better than the other' sort of thing.

Thanks for the feedback! Any 'side effects' to using it? Or is it perfectly fine for the hardware?

You might get slapped a couple of times, or maybe just the silent treatment.
I prefer the latter.

Don't drench the area you want to clean, just put a small amount on a cloth.
I use a microfibre cloth, or some tissue depending on how bothered I am.

I have always used IPA Isopropanol to clean cpu's with and Arctic Silver paste on the cpu.

Small bottle of IPA from the local chemist will clean old thermal paste no problem and will last ages.
