Firstly, my starter was making a screeching noise, guessing that the nose wasnt being pushed over far enough and when it span up it was grinding.
So ripz swapped the solenoid, because the scrappers who insisted the starter i got to replace it was the correct size, wasnt. Now instead of the grinding, most of the time it just spins over by the sounds of it, as if the nose isnt being pushed far enough forwards....
Second problem, im getting poor fuel consumption, on a mixture of motorway and town miles (manchester and back, and blackpool and back, as well as driving to work and to the gym every day) over 240 miles i averaged 25mpg. And on the previous tank only slightly higher.. When we were changing the starter, there is a slight ticking (the kind you get from putting paper in bike spokes) coming from the MAF when the engine is turned off, which ticks to a stop within a few seconds. This could be leading towards the problem? I dont drive with a right foot which consists of a brick most of the time, so i figured i must have a problem somewhere!
