I've had the PC build now for just under a year now, and looking at it today I want to change a few things on the inside. But before I do I want to clear up a few issues first.

Firstly, I have USB light strips which run along the back of my monitors and are powered from the PC. But when I shut the PC down, these stay on meaning I have to unplug them from the usb slots. This hasnt been much of an issue until now but I'm moving rooms and my pc will be in the bedroom now and I dont really fancy having to unplug them after I shut the pc down for the night.

I also want to know why my computers hangs on "installing new updates" and "Shutting down" screens. (Windows 7 64bit) I've often come up the following morning to see the computer still on and "shutting down". What can I do to stop this?

with the USB lights, the reason they are still on is because I guess you do not turn off the power to your system from the socket on the wall... this means power is still getting to the motherboard, powering your lights...

as to your shutting down etc, this can be a memory problem or a hdd error... run a chkdsk /f or use HDTUNE to get the health state of your ssd/hdd

Used HDTUNE and it didnt show any errors, all the boxes where green. Im also having issues with a certain update for my GTX580, it keeps failing?
