Hi there,
Just a few noob questions.
First off i'll start with my system specs:
Foxconn mobo with phoenix bios
amd 64 4200+ x2 (2.2ghz) arctic cooling fan
3gb ram 2 x 512mb pc3200 and 2 x 1gb pc3200 (ddr)
x1950 pro graphics card
320gb hard drive
etc..
Basically I've attempted my first overclock with this machine as it's getting old and I want to squeeze some more power before I upgrade.
I currently have it running at 2.5ghz (230mhzx11) stock is 2.2ghz (200mhzx11)
core voltage currently at 1.36 and stock voltage when running on auto was 1.26
it is stable and can run prime95 on all different modes for over 12hrs
however I have tried to put it up to 2.6ghz (240x11) and it crashes almost 3mins into a blend test. I tried upping the voltage and got to 1.46 and it still happened.
Idle temps go too high for my liking (low 50s) when i go any higher and they currently sit around 36c/38c on 1.36
I was just wondering if there is anything wrong with what i'm doing or if it simply can't be pushed beyond the 2.5ghz mark without more cooling. I'm using an arctic cooling fan at the moment.
Could the RAM be an issue here? It was on auto for all settings but when I discovered it was running at 180mhz I changed it manually to 200mhz in the bios and now it runs at 230mhz.
Sorry if I'm rambling on, and thanks for any advice.
