Do you guys have speedstep on or off? i have a stable 4ghz profile though my idles seem a bit warm ranging from 39c-46c lately depending on the room temp on each core though my load temps are very good as in gaming i rarely hit 60c on any and if i do it's only two or so.

Is it worth having on? or does it make the overclock unstable? it seems to go around to 3.3ghz when it's on for me which i guess isn't worth it and may aswell just leave off?

Also what is everyone's idle/load temps on i7s here and what cooler/case combo? (preferably people with 4ghz too)

Thanks.

Burntest core temps usually are 68-70c max, this is at maximum, i am using Megahalems, MX-3 and 2 Viper fans which seem to be incredibly good for load temps yet not that loud.

I am using 1.28v too for the clock, Antec 902 and i think i will just take speedstep off then.(also have 3.6ghz QPI which i am told is high and probably explains why i need 1.32v for the QPI voltage.)

Cloud you could try a viper fan on it or two, also MX-3 paste is very good for load temps and maybe your cooler wasn't tight enough?(your cooler is good and should be near the same temps as mine at least.)

Oh yeah if i enabled Turboboost would it mean 4.2ghz? i am using 20x200 at the moment.

Would having turbo boost on mean i may have to up the voltage a notch? also it isn't quite speedstep on my board it's more what you say i.e the c-state thing and lowers voltage when idle so turned it off as i been stable without not one crash.

Do not think my board has speedstep it's a Gigabyte UD3R but had the c-state thing which i thought was similar and Setter did turbo boost make your temps increase much on idle/load? was it worth using?

Is the airflow in your case optimal? i cleaned out my dust filters recently which helped my temps a lot....they were hitting 86c in Burntest.

What temps do you get doing 1 testrun of Burntest this very moment on all cores? if you say you re-seated the cooler fine then i can only think it's the case which probably would be resolved by getting a HAF-X if you want quiet fans yet amazing cooling performance amongst one of the best.

Maybe post a few pics here of the inside of your case for people to see to try and help.
