I recently got a canon 400D, these are some shots from one of my first outings, Can I get some C&C please :)

Quite a lot going on in that field (pic 1). I quite like that for some reason.

The last two are the other goodun's. Not sure about the others though - they seem a bit plain.

Good work for a quick day out though. :)
 
1st pic, is quite distracting, what is intended to be the interesting feature of the photo?

The 2nd is quite balanced, though the shadows are a bit dark and you're almost losing the fisherman on the left.

3rd pic, I'm guessing the horse is intended to be the interesting feature, is there any reason you've included the crow? if not next time wait till it's out of the shot to avoid taking the eye away from the horse

The 4th I quite like, if possible try to include a bit more around the horse.

The 5th if you want to do a portrait, unless there is a natural frame (window, horse box etc) try to include the whole head.

I'd agree. The close up works pretty well to be fair, although if it was a portrait for the owner they'd almost certainly want to see the whole head.
