Few Q's on linux

I have a friends laptop and have installed ubuntu or kubuntu on it for test purposes, I may have it on my rig as a dual boot jobby.

how do i set up the internet (Ethernet)?

How do i play mp3's?

How do i install things on it?

For MP3s there are many different apps out there for this, just google for them - as I am not a Linux user I cannot point out which is the best.

To Install things - it's usually an apt-get command as far as I am aware.

Look out for Automatix if you want stuff done for you rather than putting commands in yourself
