Those of you that have it please answer these:

1.Is it really quiet?
2.Are the dust filters easy to clean and do they protect the inside well?
3.Can the sidefan fit still with a GTX580 next to it?
4.What's your cpu idle/load temps and gpu idle/load?

Thanks.:)

1. It is around average for noise.
2. Dust filters do work very well
3. Yes
4. Lower than my 800D temps.

Surely it will be a lot more quieter than an Antec 902 with fans set to high Ace Modder?

Thanks for answering, really need to know this one too though as i am buying the case soon but this is important for me as i do not like the noise of my 902.

1) Fans are a bit noisy for me but adding a 7v or 10v adapter makes them pretty much silent
2) dust filters do their job, no problem
3) yes easy, and i replaced the 200m stock with a 230mm from my old haf 932
4) i7 920 at just over 4ghz (191x21, 1.275v) between 36-41 idle and i've never seen it go above 65 at heavy loads
580 + xtreme plus idles between 27-30 and i've never seen it go above 55 at load and all fans, all fans are spinning practically silently
can recommened the case enough (just depends if you like the looks of it)

So with the default fanspeeds they are kind of loud? i doubt they are louder than my current though lol.

Oh yeah did you add the 2nd 200mm fan on the top Tom? i heard it makes a good difference to the cpu temps usually around 5c.

sorry to hijack the thread sycho.

i used to hate the look of the haf x but seeing some really good reviews on this case i am to thinking about getting it.

i have a corsair 800d and although it is a stunning case (in my eyes) i need to think more about air flow and having a quiet peaceful case.

is this case really that good at air flow ?

I would consider swapping my case for the haf x if the air flow is that good.

Well if your using the 800D on air you will see a huge difference with the Haf X the 800D is terrible at air cooling it really isnt designed for it.

i fully understand the 800d is for water-cooling and i was intentionally going to water cool but decided against it.

there is so many case on the market that claim to good/very good at air flow and was wondering if the haf x is just another one of those good or very good air flow case's.

thats exactly what i done, bought a 800d realised that it main purpose was water-cooling and the air-flow was rubbish, so i sold it and got a haf-x and couldn't be happier (extreme airflow, one of the best if not the best) my cpu and gpu temps dropped by a HUGE amount.

Sycho - no i havent tried this, no need to really, i've got really good temps as is. but its temping, 5c sounds like to much, i imagine it would between 1-3c max. i currently have the fans - 200mm 2x 400rpm (7v adapter) & 230mm 1x 600rpm (10v adapter), rear 140mm is 600rpm and cpu fans are 2x120mm apache pwm (push/pull) and my 580 has an xtreme plus so the case is pretty much silent. there is no hdd drone as it have ssd's. i couldn't be happier.

It's quieter than my Thermaltake Armour case but it's still noisy. Althoughonce you have a game on I hardly hear it over the sound/music

I might pop in those 12v-10v cables and it should be pretty good.

the 200m fans
12v is what the fans are running at normally at between 700-900rpm which is quite noisy for me.
i recommened the 10v adapters (to run them at 500-600rpm) OC did sell them but i can't find them on here anymore
i'm only using 7v because they came bundled in with my noctua fans.

Either way you will not be disappointed with the Haf-X - Awesome case

I have been thinking about the haf x and isn't the coolermaster acts 840 virtually the same ? when you think about it it is apart from it's better looking.
Just doesn't have the plastic gimmick parts like the psu cover and card holder and side panel fan.

so if you was and had a corsair 800d with no water cooling and thought about getting a haf x,what would you do ?

I'd get the cooler master ACTS 840 I think it's the best air cooling case around this price point along side the HAF X.
If you aren't bothered about looks I'd get the HAF x for slightly cheaper though.

I have this case and it is a bit noisy but i do have 4 massive fans 1 at front 1 at the side and two at the top then 3x 120 mm fans pushing air through me rad (inside at top) two gtx480s with 2 extra 120 fans pushing air on them and a 180mm fan on back outlet air

but i cant hear it when playing games etc

My i7 970 OC to 4.2 with 1.35v WCooled is around 30c to 35c ,IBT 55c , cards run at 38c and 42c in sli idle and 65c and 75c playing crysis 2 and 70c and 85c in occt and 480s run hot so the case MUST be doing its job keeping it all cool

The XSPC 360rad i got is inside at the top so you know it can accomidate it though i lost the top bay and had to fit a XSPC 750 pump due to the depth i lost on the 2nd bay at the top so i would advise a 240 rad at the top to keep the room though the 360 rad fits well

It is a beast of a case i love mine it was a christmas prezzy

Yea that's why I think the 840 is the slightly better case because the side panel has no fan = less noise.

There really isn't any need for side panel fans unless you are running very hot cards in sli etc imo.

Shame coolermaster hasn't released a non fanned side panel yet.

How quiet is the 840? thing is though the Haf-X seems to be best at cooling gpus from what i've read aswell as the great cpu cooling.

Either way i think it will be a big upgrade from my 902 as i am getting a 2nd 580 eventually around summer time.

Thanks for the replies all so far.

Side fan makes a big difference to GPU temps, at least 5c lower on the top card during normal gaming for me. The way the side fan shroud points air into the gap were the top gfx card fan draws air is well designed.

The front fan shroud to tunnel air towards the gfx doesn't fit both my 6950's (only fits when I have 1), not sure if it'll fit twin 580's, depends on where their power connectors are.

I think I can probably mod it to fit if you don't mind cutting a bit of plastic.

To be fair you can bung a big fan on the side of pretty much any case and get the same gpu temps.
