hi all just finished building my pc specs in sig,i have a couple of questions hopefully someone might answer them.

i brought the overclocked package http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-003-OB

what should my idle temps be?
at minute they are 53,51,52,57 is this ok or not?

if i need to redo the artic silver should i do a pea size grain or a line,my fan is the fenrir so any ideas on best way?

is there a need to save the overclock, that they have done if so how i go about doing this(never done a save in bios before so a guide would be good)

if its already saved where can i find it?

cant seem to find prime95 anymore anyone got a link the one on here no longer works?

regarding my fans on the case i have plugged them in the psu is this right or should they go in the motherboard which is better?

what should i have my fan speeds on and how do i check them and adjust if needed?

sorry for the long questions i thought i better ask as i dont know,as i am new to this kinda setup from my previous pc,hope someone can help many thanks

IMO the idle are a little high, would try a resit of the cooler, on my sunbeam which is kind of the same i found that two thin lines on the heatpipes works best as it lets the TIM seep into the cracks around the pipes. Just google prime 95 it there.

Hi there

your temps are ok
i would personally reseat the cooler

use a little more thermal paste than you think you need
you need to fill the gaps as the contact plate is made of heatpipes

avoid any air pockets

redone heatsink temps are now idle between 38-42degrees tad better

ok thats that sorted can anyone else answer the other questions please cheers

Yeah must have a been bad TIM spread or seat, there much better and would call them ok.

Have read through the book that comes with your PSU. Connecting the fans to PSU make them run after the system has been turned off to expell hot air, weather this a has a major benfit or not is debaitable. I only connected the psu 120mm fan to my mobo.
You can downlaod speedfan to keep an eye on fans

ok cheers for that just need a couple more answers lol

Most mobos have a 'profile' section these days - scan the mobo manuals index for it. I have my 2.4Ghz Q6600 on an Asus P5Q with two profiles; one for 3.6ghz stable [it's not any more with 4 sticks of RAM though, d'oh!], and one for 2.4ghz with stock everything that I can revert to should I just get narked with fiddling [as I did when my OC broke when I put the extra two sticks of RAM in] and just want to use the PC and take out my frustation in a FPS like COD4.

Handy feature - I'm sure your X58 will have something vey, very similar, too.

i cant find it anywhere can someone tell where the bios is massive bigger than my p5q pro board,i really need to know and make sure this oc is saved just in case.
